About bucketpal
bucketpal is a simple tool that helps groups collect money for a shared goal. Whether it's a trip, a gift, or a group expense, bucketpal makes it easy to organize and contribute.
What bucketpal is NOT
- — Not a crowdfunding platform
- — Not a charity or fundraising tool
- — Not a bank or financial institution
bucketpal is a social coordination tool for people who already know and trust each other.
How payments work
BucketPal uses Stripe Connect to process all payments. When someone contributes to a bucket, the money goes directly to the organizer's bank account. BucketPal never holds, stores, or has access to any funds.
Stripe handles all payment processing, security, and compliance. Contributors receive a receipt directly from Stripe.
Pricing
BucketPal charges a 3.5% platform fee on each contribution. This covers payment processing and keeps BucketPal running. There are no other fees.
Tax information
If your bucket receives $600 or more in a calendar year, Stripe will send you a 1099-K tax form. This is required by federal law and applies to all payment platforms (Venmo, PayPal, GoFundMe, etc.).
Most contributions between friends and family are considered gifts, which are typically not taxable income for the recipient. We recommend consulting a tax professional about your specific situation.
